Healthy Sexy Hair Nourishing Styling Treatment : Product Review

soy renewal.jpg

I try many hair products as part of my job, but it's rare that I find one that stands out in the way this one did. Part of the HealthySexyHair range, the Soy Renewal nourishing styling treatment (quite a mouthful to say) is a fantastic stand alone product.

Suitable for use on wet or dry hair, you simply smooth a little onto the hair shaft, and voila, instant sleekness and softness. It really is that simple. The product is dispensed in a yellow tinted oil formulation, so be careful when using for the first time as a little really goes a long way. You may need to experiment with how much to use, as if you over apply (as with serums) the hair can feel a little greasy.

Oscars 2010 Beauty: Demi Moore

Oscars makeup - Demi Moore.jpg

Demi Moore looked stunning at last night's Academy Awards. Check out her Atelier Versace gown over on Catwalk Queen, but stay right here to copy her makeup look. Soft and dramatic makeup topped off with glossy pink lips was a big trend on the red carpet, and Demi shows how a more mature beauty can achieve this look perfectly.

Celebrity makeup artist Jo Strettel began by mixing two Giorgio Armani foundations, Luminous Silk Foundation and Lasting Silk UV SPF 34 Compact Foundation to perfect Ms. Moore's skin, using a bit of YSL Touche Eclat under the eyes and around the nose.

I think Demi's big brown eyes are the star of this look, achieved mostly with Lancome products. The soft, smoky eye features Color Design Eye in Ciel du Soir on the lid and Honeymoon as a highlight on the brow bone and inner corners of the eye.

Product Review: Olay Total Effects Day Moisturiser SPF 15

olay-total-effects-day.jpgYou might well point out that there's not much need for sunscreen just now with spring still running fashionably late, but any anti-ageing moisturiser worth its salt will have built-in protection from the sun, which is, after all, the biggest culprit in drying out and discolouring our skin.

But that's all beside the point, which is that Olay's Total Effects Day Moisturiser is definitely one of the good guys if you're looking for a low to mid-range price that's easy to grab and replace on the high street. I've only been using it for two weeks, but what's struck me about this moisturiser so far is that it gives something I've not personally experienced beore: instant results. I'd heard a fair bit of hype about it, but was pleasantly surprised to find that the product lived up to it.

Benefit New product alert! Two lush new goodies coming to you soon

Bathtina take a picture.jpg

I'm a big fan of Benefit products so the news that there would soon be two new additions to the range filled me with glee. One is the delightfully named 'Bathtina, Take a Picture... it lasts longer', and one is a kit entitled 'Confessions of a Concealaholic'.

Treatment Review: The Garra Rufa Fish Pedicure at the Fish and Firm Spa

fish pedicure.JPG

When the fish pedicure first came to public attention it caused cries of disgust amongst the beauty community. Letting little fishes nibble away the dead skin on your feet just didn't sound like a pleasant experience. However people relaxed somewhat when they realized this could be a nice 'natural' solution to ridding themselves of calluses, and fish spas became more commonplace.

They've never made it to the UK though, so when I was in Thailand I decided to try it out for myself. The idea is that the Garra Rufa fish are attracted to the dead skin on the feet and will eat that way, revealing healthy skin beneath. The suction from the fish is said to leave the skin more radiant and plumped up.

Say hi to the Carzor, the card shaped portable razor

carzor01.jpg

Is it a card, is it a razor, no it's somehow both at the same time. This quirky design really looks at the needs of the man on the go and recognizes there won't always be time to shave in the morning. What does one do, when they turn up to work scraggly faced? Simply whip out this bad boy in the bathroom and remove the offending hairs.

Debenhams reveals that your makeup bag is a ticking time bomb!

mac makeup bags.jpg

We all know that we should throw out our cosmetics within a certain time period, but how many women actually follow this advice? I for one am guilty of owning cosmetics that are over 10 years old (Miss Selfridge cream shadows, and no, I don't still use them) but using out of date products can lead to allergic reactions, conjunctivitis and skin rashes.

Debenhams has recently done some research into the health of women's makeup bag and come up with some worrying results- most makeup bags are out of date by 4 years!
