Yay or Nay: Black Nail Polish

Black_nails We've already talked about how Chanel Black Satin is the polish de jour this winter, and savvy reader Mary pointed out that there's some bottles up for grabs for free at swapcorner.com. But what do you think to the dark nail trend - autumn chic, or too teenage goth for your liking? Yay or Nay and why?

Last week, cheap makeup got mostly yays, but with most of you saying that there was some products you liked to spend extra on. Of the cheapies, brands you loved included Tesco, Superdrug Kolor, Rimmel and Wet n' Wild.

Pre-reqs: short nails, perfect manicure = yay. I can't wait to try this look out soon.

Yay! On perfect manicured nails it's gorgeous, but not on long straggly, or bitten nails with half of it chipped.

Yay. I just bought some today.

Yay all the way! I love it both perfectly manicured AND casually chipped.

Yay!
You need really well manicured nails and very careful application, though. Also, this is not the best time to use a cheap-ass brand (I learnt that lesson through experience, as a teenage goth back in the early 90s).

I like ultra-dark burgundies, purples, blues and greens as well as black.

Nay. Just not me and never will be. I prefer bronze or cranberry red. Which reminds me, I need to get my nails done before I go away.

Yay. But only if you have nice nails and are good at applying it - which makes it a double no for me.
Done well, it looks great.

oh goodness no - not on me, anyway, who already gets labelled a goth (thanks Shiny Katie!) with her black hair. I do agree with the above comments about getting an expensive brand...I remember my mid 90s grunge phase all too well!
