Identical Beauty for £190 Less at the Sun

The_sun The Sun have run a beauty feature where they made up identical twins (who again, look like they could have been the Sweet Valley Twins a few years ago - are all twins so photogenic?) with the same look, one with cheap cosmetics and the other with more pricey brands. Needless to say, you can't tell the difference at face value, but they did mention that the cheaper brands wore off more quickly, which for me, is enough to convince me that it is sometimes worth spending the extra. Oh, and incase you were wondering, Kelly, on the left, is wearing the cheaper brands.

KELLY’S MOISTURISER: Olay beauty fluid, £4.99.

Plus: Skin felt soft and moist Minus: Took a while to sink in.7/10

FOUNDATION: Maybelline mousse foundation, £6.99.

Plus: Gave good coverage and blended well. Minus: Tends to dry out in the pot after a few weeks.7/10

EYESHADOW: No17 eyeshadow in Perfect Plum, £4.99.

Plus: Good pigment so colour is the same as you see in the pot. Minus: Packaging is a bit boring.8/10

EYELINER: No17 Soft liner pen, £3.49.

Plus: Pen-like nib made application easy. Minus: Smells a bit strange.7/10

MASCARA: Barbara Daly double dimension mascara, £5.50.

Plus: Nice, thick brush mascara. Not too cloggy and lengthened lashes nicely. Minus: Has a smaller brush for bottom lashes which is a bit gimmicky.7/10

BLUSHER: NYC colour wheel mosaic powder, £3.99.

Plus: Went on smoothly, not patchy like some blushers. Minus: Colour was a bit flat.6/10

LIPGLOSS: Rimmel sweet jelly lipgloss in jelly baby, £3.49.

Plus: Very pretty colourwise. Minus: Not much staying power.6/10

Plus: Improves texture and elasticity over time, skin felt plump and taut. Minus: Raid the piggy bank.8/10

FOUNDATION: Benefit non fiction foundation, £19.50.

Plus: Flawless finish without being too heavy. Minus: Bottle seems a bit on the small side.7/10

EYESHADOW: Dior secret charm eyeshadow, £32 for five colours.

Plus: Stunning colours, beautiful packaging Minus: You might not like all five colours so possible waste.9/10

EYELINER: Clinique eye liner pen, £11.

Plus: Good, strong colour. Minus: Nib a bit flimsy which may make application difficult.7/10

MASCARA: Lancome Hypnose waterproof mascara, £17.50.

Plus: Intensified lashes adding length and loads of volume. Minus: Difficult to remove.9/10

BLUSHER: Lancome blush focus in marshmallow, £14.

Plus: Gives a natural, rosy glow. Easy to blend. Minus: Not that glamourous for the price.7/10

LIPGLOSS: Urban Decay ultraglide lipgloss, £10.

Plus: Passed the kiss test and smelt gorgeous. Minus: No applicator.7/10
