Now then, it's clear that the Superdrug Beauty Awards are primarily a marketing exercise, more so than than a magazine's slightly more independent beauty awards, as all the products are going to be from Superdrug. And while some of the picks I agree with, some leave me shaking my head in disbelief. Here's the deserving winners...
Best Skin Brand (Body): Winner - Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula. Our Verdict - Love it, cheap, effective, smells yummy and the fake tanner version gets our vote too.
Best All Time Brand: Winner - Vaseline Intensive Care Moisture Lotion. Our Verdict - Another product that is cheap but does what it says it should.
Best Anti Wrinkle Range: Winner - Olay Anti-Wrinkle Firming Day Cream. Our Verdict - In the cheaper price ranges, Olay can't be beaten - with SPF 15 across most of the products, it's the perfect budget moisturiser and anti-wrinkle daily staple.
Best Mascara: Winner - Max Factor Masterpiece Mascara. Our Verdict - Our review is coming up, but it's safe to say that this is the Kiss and Makeup girls current mascara of choice. A deserving winner.
Jump for the winners that we think are losers...
Best Foundation: Winner - Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse. Our Verdict - This is without doubt one of the worst foundations I've ever tried (although not quite as bad as this). Superdrug claim Victoria Beckham and Claudia Schiffer are fans, and all I have to say to that is, I don't think so. There are so many better foundations out there, this is not the route to flawless skin. Out of the other foundation ranges sold in Superdrug, any of Max Factor's foundations would have been a more deserving winner.
Best Eyeshadow: Winner - Collection 2000 Total Colour Eyeshadow Trios. Our Verdict - Yes I agree that Collection 2000 can sometimes be an excellent budget option (certain mascaras for instance) but it's eyeshadow is not an award winner. Practically every other eyeshadow in Superdrug performs better. Barry M would probably get my vote.
If you've spotted your favourite in the list, nearly all the winners are currently on offer.
