Foundation Special #3: Lily Lolo

Iconphp_1 The moment I decide to write about Lily Lolo mineral foundations, I find their website is down due to high demand. This comes as no surprise to me, as Lily Lolo's mineral foundations are a fraction of the price of Bare Escentuals, or Jane Iredale, yet they allow you to achieve the same airbrushed results I only seem to manage with mineral foundation. If you've tried Bare Escentuals but aren't so keen on the sheen you get, then Lily Lilo's minerals have a more matte finish...

Full sized pots of foundation cost only £12, and as anyone who's ever tried mineral foundations will attest, that lasts a pretty long time. To make sure you get the right size, sample sizes are available for only 99p, which is also a great way of trying out mineral foundation if you haven't used it before. It's not often I post pictures of myself with no makeup on, but if you compare my skin in the Dr Harnik video or Skin Sciences video to the Jessica Simpson Hairdo pictures, where I am wearing Lily Lolo, you can see the difference it makes!

Where to buy: Lily Lolo's Online Store
Price: £12 for a full pot, 0.99p for a sample
Coverage: Light to full - can be built up to your preferences
SPF:Yes - contains natural SPF but it is not rated.
Finish: Matte and flawless.
Best for: Those who want to build up coverage without looking like they are wearing much makeup. Anyone who fancies trying out mineral foundation.
Avoid if: No real reason to avoid - but older skins may find mineral foundation accentuates lines.
Verdict: 4.5 out of 5. Great finish, great price, UK independent brand - support them!

I love Bare Escentuals but even though I get my makeup off ebay it's still expensive and takes a while to come from America. Definately going to buy some samples from Lily Lolo now.

I'm thinking of ordering Lily Lolo (love the name!) foundation - I have used Bare Escentuals in the past and loved the coverage but hated the way it gleams and makes my open pores look like craters. Does Lily Lolo highlight open pores also?

I LOVE Lily Lolo. I've always used cream foundations and only heard of mineral make up recently. You can order small sample sizes to try out the colour - the foundation costs only 99p for a sample size and it lasts about a month!!(if you use it every day). It's maybe not the best make-up if your skin is very dry, but after using it for a while it actually makes the skin softer. The 'Peep-O' concealer is ingenious! I've used YSL Touche Eclat for years but this gives much better coverage yet it looks like you're not wearing any make-up! And in response to Jacqueline; no, Lily Lolo make up doesn't highlight pores it covers them!

Lily Lolo is amazing it gives a really nice finish - matte or glowing depending on which you use. It's nice to have such a vast selection oof shades to choose from so you can try different looks everyday. As well as their foundation, their shades of eye colour are beautiful! The foundation covers amazingly, but it might take a little getting used for those who usually use cream or liquid...it is more of a skill to realise just how much will give you the results you want, but you soon get used to it. I got some sample pots about a month ago and they still haven't all been used up, I'm going to ask for the full size soon I think. It's also brilliant for those with blemished skin as even the foundation hides them quite well. I prefer, instead of using their cover-up, using one shade darker of the foundation to dab on breakout areas. Its brilliant to finally see a British natural make-up company and I just hope they will continue to produce amazing results and value!

Ellie - Me too, mineral foundation rocks and I'm so pleased to find a British company who do it to a high quality!
