Yay or Nay: Avon

Avon_1 I haven't bought anything from Avon, not ever. Nothing on their (frustratingly hard to navigate) website makes me compelled to buy, and no Avon lady has ever called at my door. So what do you think? Are Avon an outdated brand only selling to old ladies, or are they your bargain beauty staple? Yay or nay and why?

I like their chunky eye crayons because they're really easy to apply but other than that i've found most things I've bought from them to be pretty pants to be honest & i hate their skincare products!

  • Well, since I sell Avon, I could be quite a bit biased, but I've found more than just plenty of products that I like. I'm really liking the Solutions line, in particular, the True Pore-fection line, which really takes good care of my usually oily face (trust me, before selling Avon, I tried everything else, and it wasn't working). I honestly think that many reps are not canvassing the neighborhoods like they used to-- I'm new, and I do that though. I let people in the neighborhoods know that I'm there and I will offer anyone as personalized service as I can, and answer any questions anyone has about the products. I will help in picking correct shades of foundation, makeup that goes well with my customers' skin tones (that's a major thing-- a lot of people without assistance tend to buy something that doesn't look good on their complexion or undertones just because they like the color blue, or some silly reason like that... lol). I just spent 4 hours at one of my customer's houses 2 days ago talking about skin care and helping her pick out makeup shades to replace her old makeup to get ready for a trip she's taking. I'll devote as much time and knowledge as it takes to keep my customers happy. yay :)

  • Never tried or bought anything from the Avon line ~ seems kinda old and outdated to me. However, I did use some products from their Mark. line and I really liked them. Really, really affordable and great packaging. I even tried selling the stuff for a while, but I am a buyer, not a seller, so I gave up after a couple months. The seller's discount was worth it, though, and most of the products I bought to "sell" I ended up keeping and using myself. I heard that MTV's "The Hills" star Lauren Conrad, has been chosen to be their official Mark. spokesperson, so I bet that will put them more in the limelight. We'll see. So, Yay for Mark., Nay for Avon.

Despite some hits and misses, I give them a yay. Their Anew line and Beyond Color line works great for me. And I can only vouch for a couple of the products from their Avon Solutions line. But the way I see it, for a for a cosmetics giant like them to be known world-wide and continue to be in business for well over a hundred years now and still going, they must be doing something right.

The only product I use by them (the only Avon product I've ever tried) is their mousse foundation - miles better than Maybelline's! So yay, I guess.
