This week, Danielle from Trashionista is looking for a dark long lasting lipstick...
I'm a daily lipstick wearer, and have been since the age of 13. I tend to keep to dark (yet not TOO dark) shades. Right now Heatherberry and Ancient Earth from the Boots 17 range are my faves; they're fab colours and don't break the bank, either. But what I'm after is something long-lasting. The Boots shades don't exactly last for hours on end and I want something that doesn't make me whip out my mirror and lippie in class! I know that L'Oreal do a Kiss-Proof selection, but I'm not keen on the colours they do as they're mainly too light. Avon used to do a Lip Ink in a dark pink colour that stayed on for ages. It was absolutely perfect...but they stopped selling it a good few years ago now...
Long lasting lipsticks are tricky, but we know of two that definitely last the distance and come in plenty of darker shades. The key to the longevity of both is the two part application - colour, and a top coat that keeps it moisturised.
First of all, Max Factor Lipfinity (£9.99). The shades of this tend to be at the darker end of the spectrum (darker on your lips than they look on the colour chart, promise) and it lasts. Not quite as long as our second pick, but it would stay on through several meals, no problems.
The second pick is a tiny bit more expensive, but the range of colours and lasting power are second to none. One application is enough for all day, maybe all week (kidding, but it does last a long time). Mac Pro Longwear Lipcolour (£15.50).
