Since the arrival of Johnson's Holiday Skin, just about every brand going has introduced their own body lotion laced with just enough self-tan to give you a natural glow after a few days. Some are better than others, some smell better than others, but very few have the advantages of Neutrogena's offering, one of the latest to hit the market. What's good about this one is that it doesn't forget that it's a body moisturiser first, and a tanner second, and it's just as good at treating dry skin as it is at giving you that 'I've just got back from a week away' glow.
Norwegian Formula Nourishing Glow Body Moisturiser (£4.99) comes in two formulas, one for lighter skins and one for darker. Both are much thicker than most rivals, but don't let that put you off if you're scared of streaking...
mmI was a bit concerned that a deep moisturising cream laced with fake tan might just make all those problem areas that can look dirty after haphazard application of fake tan products - elbows, knees, ankles - even worse. But because of the slow build-up of colour, there's less of a worry of that and I actually found this gave a really nice, even colour after a few days of application. It is worth putting this product on as you would a self tanning lotion (evenly, fairly quickly, rubbing it in carefully to avoid streaks) but it's fairly idiot proof provided you wash your hands and leave it to soak in (it only takes a few minutes) before dressing or sitting on a white sofa (me, never!).
I'm not going to lie and tell you this smells like heaven and doesn't have a hint of that biscuity fake tan smell...it does. But every single product on the market created to give you a glow has a slight odour, and this is by no means the worst offender. It's hidden well by a fresh, subtle scent that won't clash with your perfume.
After three or four days of applying this before bed I had a light, natural tan, soft and smooth skin and no stains on my sheets. You can't say fairer than that for a fiver, can you?!
