Examined: The New Green Consumer Guide to Cosmetics and Toiletries

The_new_green_consumer_guide An interesting perspective on cosmetics from Julia Hailes in the New Green Consumer Guide. What with her coming from a 'save the world' perspective, and us coming from a 'just how much cosmetics can we purchase in a lifetime' kinda direction. Her tips for green cosmetic consumption basically boil down to...

  • Buy what you'll need (not everything in the shop)
  • Finish what you buy
  • Avoid wasteful packaging

If you don't like something, why not give it to someone who has a better chance than you at finishing it, or swap it on the Beauty Swap Shop or Makeup Alley. There's also a reminder that the word 'repeat' was added to shampoo bottles to increase sales, not because you need to wash your hair more than once. So there we have it, time to start saving the world one lipstick at a time.
