Beauty holiday destination #1: USA

Usa_beauty_holiday
Way back in, erm, April, I wrote a post about beauty holidays - as in choosing your holiday because of its beauty buying potential. In conclusion, I can reveal that the best places to holiday if your sole aim is to buy many, many cosmetics, are Japan and the USA. If you've also got lots of cash, then try Paris, too. Here's what to look out for in the US of A...

USA: Oh, everything. I'm not kidding, look through the Kiss and Makeup archives and everything that says 'sadly only available in the USA' is your beauty target. Seriously though, the exchange rate is so good that everything, even the stuff available here, will probably be a fair bit cheaper. Get cheaper than your average MAC, Benefit, Lancome, Bare Escentuals, Smashbox, Stila etc, etc, etc. Then there's the brands that aren't widely available here; Cargo, DuWop, Vincent Longo, Tarte, Lorac, Lola...I could go on, and on, and on. Not forgetting US-only collections from brands like Max Factor and Rimmel. Bascially, if you're going to the US, get saving, and for goodness sake, get yourself to a Sephora.

Teeth whitening fans should stock up in the US, because the laws are different there so they can sell stronger formulations over the counter.

Tomorrow: Beauty shopping in Japan and Asia.

Like that? Try this: British Beauty products, for those of you not going on holiday this year

I shall be taking notes on the Japan one. Off to Tokyo in October and I will be hunting down unique beauty products. I figure I'll never be able to afford to go again so why not spluge while I'm there.

^Emma, Shisheido and Kanebo products are very good. And be sure to buy some Royce chocolates (yeah, it's not a beauty product, but it's so yummy)!

there are laws against OTC tooth whiteners in the UK? is that why there's the stereotype about brits having brown teefs? i always thought it was the tea consumption!
all joking aside..i am seriously jelly that y'all get boujois so cheap. it is one of my favorite, fun beauty brands.

Evangelia - Yep, the over the counter whitening kits here are as good as useless, you have to go to the dentist to get strong stuff!

Bourjois isn't actually all that cheaper for us, you pay $14 for the eyeshadow, we pay £6!
