How to do twisty, twirly buns as seen at Max Mara

Buns are great for the days when wearing your hair down just isn't an option - you know, when the dreaded kink refuses to go away, when the wind is blowing a gale, or when it really needs a wash but you just can't be bothered. The only problem being, most buns are kinda, well...boring. It's hard to get the right balance between librarian-neat and scruffy-girl-messy. But I think these twisty buns at Max Mara are just right. They're interesting and pretty, yet not too unkempt. I just recreated it in my hair and it's not too difficult.

Keep reading to find out how I did it...

I don't know how they did it at Max Mara, but this is how I recreated the twisty bun look in a I'm-a-normal-girl, not-a-hairdresser kinda way...

1. Deep side part your hair. Take the side parting one third of the way back on your head and scoop the hair away all the way down to the nape of your neck on the parted side. Keep this section aside.
2. Divide the rest of your hair into two sections. Twirl each section into a twist and then coil up into two buns at the nape of your neck. Secure both with kirby grips.
3. Take the third section that you put aside, and sweep up into a side on twist. Twirl the ends of your hair into a bun and secure under the previous two buns.
4. Voilà, all done.

Quick tip: This hairstyle would be easier with one day washed hair prepped with a bit of dry shampoo!

If that doesn't make sense, let me know and I'll take some pictures, or even do a video if you're desperate!

That looks cool, Charlotte. As a matter of interest how long is your hair?

My hair is quite long, past shoulder length, but I reckon you could do it with hair as short as shoulder length.

Pictures would be great - not sure what you mean by...

I'll admit, I'm desperate. I don't know why I can blow-out my own hair but can't put it in a "nice" pony or bun to save my life. I'd love to see a video.
