Review: James Brown London haircare range with Kate Moss

You might not have heard of this James Brown, but behind the scenes he's been creating the hairstyles we've admired on catwalks and magazine covers, and perhaps most famously, tending to the hair of a certain Miss Moss.

The first thing that impressed me about his new range of shampoos, conditioners, and styling products, was the instructions. I'm one of those peculiar creatures who devour product labels, and a simple 'wash and repeat' don't impress me much. Each product had specific and useful advice for making the most of your hair type, but it was the words 'no need to repeat' that sealed the deal. A man who's shunned the marketing lie that you need to wash more than once is a man in my good books...

I tried the Combination Hair Shampoo, and after learning on the label that I shouldn't massage my scalp when washing as it encourages oil production, I was quite fond of this nettle and watercress containing shampoo. The deal-sealer was the Moisture Mask For Hair. My hair is long overdue a cut (no, I'm not telling you how long overdue, you'd be horrified), and anything that restores it to a state where I'm happy to delay my hairdresser visit even longer sits well with me. The ingredients of brown seaweed, nut oil and aloe vera promise to leave me with sleek hair that feels silky to the touch, and happily, they do.

Thanks to the collaboration with Kate Moss, these products have been the subject of a lot of hype, but behind the hype, they have nothing to do with supermodels, and everything to do with a talented hairdresser that, so far in my opinion, delivers their promises.

The cherry on the cake is the accessible £5.99 price tag, meaning I'll definitely be back for more.

James Brown London products go on sale today at Boots and online at James Brown London.
