Cosmetics companies' scientific claims don't hold up

boswelox.jpg

This story did not surprise me in the slightest. Is it not obvious that terms like 'Boswelox' and the like are made up by cosmetics companies and have little to no grounding in scientific fact?

L'Oreal and Olay have come under fire from Which, who posed as a customer and rang the companies asking for explanations of the science behind their products. They then put these explanations to scientists at Sense About Science, and surprise, surprise, they said that were mostly talking boll**ks, sorry, boswelox.

“It’s insulting to people’s intelligence to expect customers to accept these explanations,” said Sense About Science spokeswoman Dr Aarathi Prasad. “They’re taking the real science out of context so it becomes bad science.”
