Day in the life of a Product Junkie

Now I don't deny I use a rather obscene amount of products and the nature of my job is to constantly test new ones as well, but I was thinking the other day of just how much I use on a daily basis, and whilst the total seems extreme, step by step it all seems fairly necessary. So here goes, my daily beauty diary...
7.20 Argh. Alarm clock goes. Don’t want to get up. Cold. Spend 10 minutes debating it, run out of bed to turn on the heating, pee, and then get back under the covers.
7.45. alarm goes again. Shoot, should really get up now. Stumble to bathroom, remove gunk from eyes, brush teeth with new multi bristle brush that promises to remove 40% more plaque. Wash face with Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant, then wipe toner all around my face. Grimace at the huge spot that has magically appeared on my chin and dab on some Johnson’s and Johnson’s medicated clearing lotion. Finish with Rodial Glamotox on my face.
8.00 Make up time. Apply foundation first with foundation brush to get even coverage and dab on some YSL touché éclat under my eyes. Slick my brows into place with Givenchy eyebrow gel, and draw them in with Rimmel eyebrow pencil in blonde, to make up for the teen years of over plucking. Swirl Bobbi Brown eyeshadow in pearl across my lids, and contour them with Bobbi brown in chestnut. Line the outside of my eyes with eyeliner in black and use mascara to bring out my lashes. I dust bronzer across my cheeks to fake that healthy glow and moisturise my lips with Elizabeth Arden eight hour cream. Finish with a dusting of loose powder to avoid shine.
9.40. Reapply lip balm as coffee has dried out lips, and slather on some hand cream to moisturise. Hands now too sticky to type so stand around kitchen area trying to look productive.
12.50. Meeting friends for lunch, touch up powder with Virgin Vie pressed powder compact.
210. More hand cream. Spritz face with a water spray to refresh skin from nasty office free radicals.
4.30. Paint nails with Sally Hansen strengthening lotion and apply solar oil cuticle oil to nails. It's OK, as I pass the bottles round so don’t look like I am slacking as everyone else is applying too. Cunning plan- must do this more often.
6.30. Meeting friends for a drink. Redo eyeliner and put on some lipstick in nude, with sparkly pink lip-gloss on top. Hope it doesn’t look like I've been in office all day. Spritz on favourite perfume, Angel, and feel suitably frivolous.
11.30. Garr. One drink turned into a few, and there was that cute boy at the bar who kept buying me wine.. cant be bothered to clean properly so use a Nivea 3in1 wipe to remove makeup debris, and slather face in Guerlain Issima Midnight Secret which is a miracle and will hopefully mean I look like normal tomorrow. Apply Burt's Bees foot cream and hop around putting socks on trying not to get cream on the floor. Pummel thighs with anti cellulite cream, wondering once again if the priciest of the cream equals the sense of disappointment at no visible results, and if I am massaging my legs in the manner the little cartoon on the side depicts, and if that’s perhaps the reason I haven't seen results... .Collapse into bed, only to get up 5 minutes later for a glass of water. Head a little spinny.
7.20. Alarm goes. Argh! Don’t want to get up.
So, one day and how many products. The total number used is-30!! Omigod.
And at a price of approx £340 for the whole selection.
Soo what did I use?
Cleanser, toner, moisturiser, spot cream, toothpaste, toothbrush, face wipes, night cream, cellulite gel ,foot cream , hand cream, face spritz perfume , foundation, eyebrow, eye pencil,
eyeliner, eye shadow, mascara, bronzer, powder loose, powder pressed, lip balm, lipstick, lip-gloss concealer ,nail oil ,nail varnish.
But could I really have not used any of these? And on a day when I didn't even shower. Sigh. Beauty is expensive and hard work.
