My love of the Venus razor is well documented, but nowadays it seems simplicity is overrated, at least in the beauty field and there are two variants on the humble Venus. There's the Vibrance, a razor that includes a battery for exfoliating whilst shaving, and the Venus Breeze, which includes shaving gel as part of its makeup. But do these gimmicks actually work and which will make me smile and which leaves me feeling a little prickly?
The Venus Breeze
Ease of Use: It's meant to be a wet and go device, but I found that the but in shave gels didn't really get your legs prepared for shaving unless you lathered them up first. It's meant to be a time saving device, but actually took longer to get my legs read for shaving.
Cost factor: £7.99, with a replacement blade.
Portability: Great for on the go, as you don't need to carry a separate gel. the tropical scent is nice as well.
Smoothness rating: Semi prickly- I couldn't cut to close or I got nicked as my skin wasn't that protected.
The Venus Vibrance:
Ease of Use: Slather on the shaving gel and go. The Vibrance is waterproof too, so you can use it in the shower. It has three comfort coated blades, and the Vibrations turn on by the button on the handle.
Cost factor: £8.99, but this includes batteries and a replacement blade.
Portability: Standard. You need to carry a shave gel with you.
Smoothness rating: Super smooth, the razor glides over the legs a dream and the battery somehow makes it feel like it's gliding. The fact that it exfoliates the dead skin while it shave makes you feel like you're getting a super close shave.
Overall Winner: It has to be the Vibrance, on all counts. It's definitely staying on my bathroom shelf this year.
