Treatment Review: Laser Lipo- no needles involved

lllipo.jpg

A treatment so new to the UK it's currently only available in one out of the way clinic in Edenbridge is breaking grounds with its innovative NON INVASIVE procedure that promises you Liposuction Like results without needles, scarring or damage to the skin. How is this possible, you may ask, and does it work? Well I bravely volunteered not to go under the knife and have been heading up north twice a week to bring you the lowdown on the procedure.

Read on for the answers, and yes there are pictures involved (please be nice).

The Laser Lipo treatment works by stimulating the body by two large diode laser paddles which send a current through the skin, whilst two smaller probes are placed over the lymphatic glands, which are held in place by the underwear. The laser paddles are placed on fatty areas of the body (such as th abs, hips and even the arms) for ten minute intervals and then transferred to another position. The body can only take ten minutes in any one area, as any more will not have an effect as the fat can only take 10 minutes of trauma. The low level lasers make contact with the fat cells in the skin and cause it to sweat which frees up the glycerol and fatty acids, and then they emerge from the cells and move to the space beneath the fatty layer in the skin. They're then flushed out through the lymphatic system, and the cells reduce in size.

The treatment finishes with a 10 minute stint on the Power Plate to shake up all the loosened fat and to help tone the muscles. You're encouraged to exercise whilst on the programme, as there's no point trying to smooth your body and not maintain the results!
Sounds good on paper, but what is it actually like?

Well first off it's 100% pain free. The paddles emit a light heat into your body, but it doesn't sting at all, and you're lulled almost into sleep by the scented candles and warm blanket covering you. The therapists, the very professional Jenna and Louise take measurements and weight before and after ever session, in three different areas. I've always been a bit sceptical about when therapists measure you, but these girls knew their business, and even revealed when my measurements went up, which I was impressed with (On your period your measurements grow due to water retention).

I'd been feeling a bit sluggish for a while and having manged to gain weight rather than lose it in January I needed a definite kick up the backside.I thought that this treatment would be a good way to get started on a new health and fitness stint and I have to say it worked. Quite part form the results (which were impressive) it gave me greater energy, encouraged me to work out more, and after seeing the before shots vowed to cut my chocolate consumption down to just two-three times a week.

I underwent eight session in three weeks, and lost a total of 2.5 pounds. During this time I was exercising, but not cutting down on my diet. The measurements though speak for themselves, as I lost a total of 2.3 cm from my waist, 5.7 from my hips and a whopping 7.7 from around my belly button- just the place I'd wanted to target. That's a total of 15.7cm altogether (or 6.2 inches) and I have to say I think you can really tell in the pictures..

1 session costs £150, and the recommended course of eight treatments is £1,000.

Although this post is already over a year old, I feel the need to leave a comment here for those interested in Lipolaser, a proven technology that works!

Now available in a HOME VERSION! I tried it and only had to pay a one time price instead of repeat treatments at a clinic. Vital Solutions (www.visol.com) is a god-sent! Check out their Slimray (have to remove the spaces in between because they wont let me post links...) http:// visol.com/en /products/Slimray.html.
