This Beauty Hero is one I've liked for years, the delightful Cameron Diaz. Her style is more laid back and chilled than many other of the Beauty Hero's featured, but that doesn't make her sun kissed beach-casual look any less valid than the more primped up princesses. There's something about her innocent fresh faced beauty and effortless style that really appeals, and I find her sun kissed innocence very attractive.
Born in 1972, this stunner is actually 35 right now (would ya believe it?). She was born in California, and from an early age was always fairly precocious, hitting the magazine stands at 16, with a cover on Seventeen and high profile modelling campaigns for Calvin Klein and Levi's.
Her breakthrough as an actress came when she starred in the Mask, as a full on glamour girl, all sparkly skin and skin tight dresses, and then went on to star in a selection of high profile chick flicks, from Charlie's Angels to My Best Friends Wedding. Fully established as one to watch, Diaz then starred in Blockbuster hit Shrek as the feisty Princess Fiona.
Her relationship history has been varied, with hot superstars such as Jared Leto and Matt Dillon hanging off her arm, and then her infamous relationship with toyboy Timberlake. Her very public break-up with him sent her into a spin of confusion and paparazzi, but she reacted to it all very graciously and friendly, and remains a charmingly sweet person. When I met with her at the UK Shrek premiere she was clearly uncomfortable being in Timberlake's vicinity, yet posed for the cameras and answered questions very graciously, unlike Timberlake who acted like a stroppy teenager when asked about his love life.
Throughout the year Cameron has generally stuck to her trademark honey blonde locks, which offset her baby blue yes extremely well, giving her that California Barbie feel. Even when she has stepped into brunette territory (see above) she manages to pull it off, by carefully tailoring her make up to her new colour and making sure her new hair is ultra glossy. Her love of outdoor sports, from running to surfing have given her an enviably toned body, so she can pretty much eat what she likes, and as a 30 something she sports curves that twenty year olds would die for. She tends to keep her makeup quite subtle, focusing mainly on her eyes and using kohl to create a dramatic effect. Her skin is kept peachy smooth with smart use of foundation and bronzer, and she tends to choose neutral lips. When she does pull out all the stops and go the full monty with red lips for that va va voom, she effortlessly transforms from golden goddess to screen siren and literally sizzles.
I'm looking forward to seeing Cam age gracefully and naturally and continue to embody that perfect Californian girl look.
