renunail2.jpgFirstly, a big word of thanks. I've been amazed at the response I've had to this column. Obviously there are plenty of folks out there who've tried (and failed) to kick the habit as many times as me. Your tips, words of encouragement and great comments have been fantastic, so please do keep them coming. Who knew nail biting was so exciting?

Finally attempting to grow my nails - and seeing tangible results so quickly - has given me renewed faith in my own willpower, and as a result this little experiment has snowballed into a bit of an all-over 'brand new me' regime. Trust me, it's about time...

That means that once I've finally grown beautiful, polished talons, I can move onto something else. But for now, I'm still battling on, raiding the beauty cupboard and testing every nail product I can find.

On Monday, I started with Dr Lewinn's Renunail Nail Strengthener (£20). I was really impressed by the cuticle oil so I thought I'd give this a try too. It's a bit of a monster bottle (30ml) but the full treatment takes 25 days so you need a decent amount (not to mention the fact it's twenty quid a bottle). I'm not sure if I'll last that long as I'm terrible at sticking to 'programs', but I'll give it a good go, as this feels amazing on the nails and makes them look really shiny and healthy.

The basic idea: you apply 2 coats on the first day and one coat daily for the next 5 days. On the 7th day you remove the whole lot, and the circle starts again. After the third time, you should be left with beautiful, strong nails (so much so that you leave it 1 - 2 weeks before repeating).

I have high hopes for this one, so I'll keep you posted on how it goes!
