It's wedding season, and recently we've been inundated with suggestions for bridal beauty. Nails Inc are signaling the end of the French manicure, and instead suggesting brides go for their unusual Brompton Road polish (£9.50) instead. It's a matte lilac with a high gloss finish; not a colour I would usually go for, but since our only real bride-to-be is out of the office, someone has to play guinea pig.
I suppose I should confess at this point that the reason I've not been updating my nail-biting diary very much recently is because I've succumbed and started biting again. It's been a stressful couple of weeks, and I now realise how much of my compulsive nibbling is related to my moods...
Still, now they're a shiny shade of light purple, I'll hopefully be less likely to nibble for fear of chipping my polish. It might look a bit silly on such short nails, but at this point I'm willing to give anything a go to kick the habit.
I'm actually really taken with the colour, despite having always worn either classic red or bronze in the past. A change is always good and the purple reminds me of shades seen on the catwalk at Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton. The polish - unsurprisingly for the price - goes on like a dream. I could have probably got away with a single coat but two gave a much more vibrant colour and a gorgeous glossy finish. I'll be topping it with one of my strengthening products once it's dry, to add a bit of staying power.
