I've long been a fan of dry shampoo - it adds volume and texture to the hair and is brilliant for oily roots - but Klorane's version takes it to another level. Because I overslept to prove just how good it is, I came into work today with third day hair. As you can see from the picture on the left, that means a greasy fringe, flat lengths and generally crappy looking hair. Also, this is not just day three hair, it's air-dried day three hair, meaning my natural waves are out in force as well...
The photo on the right was taken in the same spot minutes after the one on the left. The only difference? I'd liberally sprayed my hair with the Klorane dry shampoo and rubbed it in, concentrating on the roots. Now can you see why I love it so much? This stuff soaks up all the oil (even on my messy fringe) and adds the kind of volume you'd only usually get from backcombing a la Amy Winehouse.
To give you a better idea of the mattifying potential of the shampoo, here's a close-up of that fringe.

Obviously dry shampoo is not a replacement for washing your hair, but it's a good way of extending a style or getting rid of oil in a crisis. Klorane gets my vote for being affordable, generous in size and delivering dramatic results. Darker haired folks may find the white in the product produces a greyish tinge, but if you rub it in well and brush it out properly, that should disappear.
There are other dry shampoos on the market, of course. Batiste Dry Shampoo (£2.09 at Boots) comes a close second purely for the pocket-money price, but while I loved it as a lighter blonde I find it leaves a residue now my hair is a little bit darker, and I need more product to produce the same effects as the Klorane. Bumble & Bumble make hair powders in various colours which are absolutely brilliant for darker shades, but at £15 they're a big spend if you use the product as much as I do. Finally, hairdresser-lead brands like Phil Smith (£2.99 at Sainsbury's) and Lee Stafford also offer up refreshing dry shampoo sprays for a few quid that are a little lighter on the powder - great for in-between hair but not so good for adding volume.
