It's been quite a week for hair at the Shiny offices, with the lovely Gemma and Susi both getting cut and coloured by two of the three London finalists for the L'Oréal Professionnel Colour Trophy (on this Monday!). It was time for me to visit the third, and I headed down to Teddington for my appointment with Joseph Cordero at Elements salon.

Entering the salon, was like walking into a calm oasis, with the noise and rain of the street instantly muffled, and a calm aura surrounding the simple yet stylish salon. Kitschy blue prints adorned the walls, and wicker chairs rested comfortably in corners. I settled down onto the chair for my consultation with the fabulous Joseph, and we talked about what to do. Now I knew I was going to stay blonde, but I felt my hair was starting to look a bit drab and faded so we agreed on a hi-lift root tint with bleach highlights to add some vibrant slices of colour through the hair. We also decided to go for a cut, something I was nervous about, as I dread the idea of losing my locks, but he promised he'd be gentle. We agreed to take around an inch off all round, and to sharply cut the hair in front to frame the face.

All that was left the was for me to settle back in my chair with a section of magazines, and I was impressed when I was offered a choice- glossy or celebrity! Joseph Cordero has been in the business since he was 18, so I sat back and trusted his expertise whilst my head was applied with so many foils I looked like an extra from E.T.

It was finally rinsed off, and I enjoyed the attentions of the salon washer, which included a to die for head massage, as well as a fabulous massage chair which had me in agonies of bliss as I relaxed there.

Next stage the haircut, and though I winced as Joseph got snap happy with his scissors the finished result was a sleek mane of hair that swung around my face and felt amazing, with fabulous blunt edges and no split ends. I kept sneaking peeks at myself in the mirror, it was that good! It was styled straight around my face, and what I lost in length I made up for in style. the colour ended up a really vibrant blonde, with swathes of cream spicing it up, and everyone has since commented on how much fresher it looks.

I left the salon beaming so brightly I probably scared children, with the complimentary umbrella they gave me to avoid ruining my perfectly coiffed head.
