Oil Control at last with OC Eight!
I have finally found the ultimate product in oil control. After a week's use I love it so much that if I had to choose between buying OC Eight and food, I will probably choose OC Eight. Fortunately at an affordable£9.99 my wonder-product isn't likely to bankrupt me.
Although the name stands for Oil-Control Eight (hours), it doesn't really keep me matte for the entire day, but it does keep the greasies at bay for almost four hours and that is far more than any product has ever achieved with me. Even better, my skin is calmer, more hydrated and blemish free with this product than ever before. How is this possible? Read on to see!
Unlike other mattifiers that work by drying out the skin, OC Eight uses "Acrysorb", an oil-absorbing polymer that they claim traps up to six times its own volume of sebum (facial oil). Because these molecules only jump into action in the presence of oil, they merely mop up the grease as it is produced, and lock it into place and don't actually try to suck it out of the skin.
Even better, because its formulated with a hydrating base, it moisturises, softens and hydrates skin while keeping it matte. Because my skin is no longer being dried out I think its calmed down slightly in terms of oil production, allowing me to go slightly longer between touchups. The absence of oil on my skin has also led to clearing up of blemishes and all-around clearer skin.
Unscented (so the smell is very chemical), non-comedogenic and hypoallergenic, this gel doesn't cause breakouts or upset my skin in anyway. It makes a great base for applying makeup as it provides a smooth, even canvas for foundation. If my skin continues to improve as it has been I may even wear a layer of this alone without foundation as it provides a lovely natural matte finish. Plus, even thought it's colourless it provides a slightly diffused look to the skin, evening it out and shrinking the appearance of pores.
When touching up, blot, and pat a thin layer of OC Eight over my foundation (yes, it can be used over!) and I'm good to go for another four hours.
I truly love this product and will recommend it to anyone who has very oily to combination skin. Unless you're very oily (like me) I'm confident the product will last the entire eight hours.
