Summer Trend: HOT Fuschia Lips
A makeup trend that keeps cropping up over and over this summer is the hot, bright fuschia lip. From blonde beauties like Kate Moss to dark divas like Rihanna, celebs are proving that anyone can wear this bright lip. When paired with a glowing bronzed complexion and dark-lined eyes the lip can be both classy and show stopping. While we don't recommend that you pair it with bright green eyeshadow ala Beyonce and Big Brother 9 entrant Kathriya Kasisopa, we do hope that you give this vibrant lip colour a try. Read on for fuschia lipstick reviews and suggestions.
Straight-up brilliant Fuschia
Deluxe:For a really dramatic look Lancome's Color Fever lipstick in Rock Chic (£17) is the lippie to turn to. Heavily pigmented, longlasting with a slight sheen this lipstick takes no prisoners. It is so unforgivingly pigmented that you have to exfoliate and moisturise your lips prior to using it as the pigments cling to every bit of flaky skin and won't spread easily without a good balm underneath. When I wore this shade out and about I felt all eyes snap to me whenever I walked into a room. This is certainly not for the faint-hearted.
Dirt-Cheap: Don't want to invest heavily in a trend-colour? Get the look with Rimmel's Rich Moisture Cream lipstick in Amethyst Shimmer (£4.99). This moisturising lippie glides on smoothly to deposit a rich fuschia with a hint of silver shimmer. Daring, dramatic, and great for a night out and about.
Hot Pink (with a touch of Fuschia)
If you're very fair, or just not prepared to go the whole hog, get the look with a bright hot pink.
Deluxe: Lancome's Color Fever Shine in Fuschia Euphoria (£17) applies more easily and smoothly than its Color Fever sister with amazing colour payoff. A bright cool-toned pink with shine, this is a great option for day, or if you want to test drive the trend. When you're ready to amp up the volume, simply layer a clear red gloss over it for full on fuschia power.
Dirt Cheap: Get the look with RImmel's Volume Booster Lipstick in Flirt (4.99). This bubblegum scented lippie is a dream to apply, and plumps your lips giving it that extra oomph.
- Fuschia is every bit as strong a colour as red. So treat it with equal respect. Eyes can be gold and bronzed or dark and lined, but not overdone. Keep cheeks bronzed or very subtly blushed.
- If you're prone to lipstick bleed, line and blot before applying your fuschia lipstick.
- Because the colour is so strong you might find it easier to apply with a lipbrush instead of straight from the tube.
