Today I buffed, scrubbed, moisturised and settled back with gritted teeth to apply fake tan. As always I was wary of how the colour would take, as I didn't want to end up an extra from a Tango commercial. equally, I didn't want any weird hand prints over my body where I'd been rubbing it in, so I opted for Fake Bake's Airbrush Tan, £26.95 from Fake Bake. It has a spray applicator, so the first challenge was to work out how to get even coverage if I was doing it myself. Eventually I oped out and recruited the boyfriend (his spray tan pics are below) to coat me in colour.
It's quite easy to apply, but be warned the spray really does go everywhere, so a bathroom is the best option. It doesn't smell very strong, which is nice, but it does take ages to dry, especially if you do two coats like we did. There's definitely a methodology to the spraying, and if you didn't spend you childhood dangling from railway bridges it will take a while to get the hang of it (*surprisingly the boyfriend was very good at it- does he have a past I don't know about?).
The tan contains two tanning agents, DHA and Erythrulose, which bond with the skins pigment, creating a deep golden tan. Once dried, the colour looked lovely and lasted around 5 days. It wore off easily, with patches easily removable with some shower scrub.Overall, I was very happy, and the boyfriend is already nagging me to bronze him up again! (Maybe this time he'll moisturise properly, honestly, why do men never listen?)
