infallible.jpgL'Oreal infallible is the latest lipcolour to get the big sell in the UK, with a huge TV and magazine advertising campaign to support the launch. It's also reduced by £3 as part of an introductory offer at Boots, meaning you can give it a go for £7.99 for a limited time.

But is it any good? Well, I've been trying it for the last week or so, and have to say I've been very impressed with it overall...

First up, there's the packaging. This manages to take the two-step lipstick idea and condense it into a tiny compact the size of a zippo lighter. The pigment and the top coat both slide up and out on either side of a central base - which doubles as a mirror, which I thought was a great touch. As packaging goes, this is a really great, innovative design that I'd be happy to whip out in public.

To apply, put on the pigment, leave it to dry (it takes about 30 seconds, depending on how much you apply) and then top it with the clear, shiny top coat. In this way it's much like previous products of the same vein - Max Factor Lipfinity being the most obvious.

As with many of the long-lasting lip colours, the pigment is slightly drying on the lips, but it's by no means as bad as older formulas, and feels a lot lighter and less chalky than some I've tried. The top coat is really lovely, though you'll probably find you need to re-apply it throughout the day to keep your lips looking soft.

As for staying power, well, it pretty much does what it says on the tin. It lasts through food and drink and didn't stain clothes on changes of outfit (sadly nobody was there to volunteer for the kiss test).

Overall, I'd give it a well-deserved five out of five. It's good value, it lasts the distance, the packaging is fab and it's affordable. What more could you ask for from a lippy?
