Chocolatey goodness for your skin: Vaseline Cocoa Butter Range

vaselinecocoabutter.jpgI'm starting to really love Vaseline for churning out great products that work at affordable prices. The cocoa butter range all cost under £5 but perform as well (if not better than) other pricier products.

Even the packaging looks really good. A deep luxurious looking copper-bronze shade that initially makes you think of self-tanners (but they're not). Read on for reviews and prices of the oil gel, lotion and body butter.

Cocoa Butter Vitalising Gel Body Oil (£4.99)
This product has been getting rave reviews here and here. After using it I can see why! This unique project applies as a gel and turns into oil as you massage it into your damp skin. The scent is akin to a chocolate milkshake with the brazil nut oil giving it a delicious nutty aroma on the dry-down. The scent fades quickly though so don't worry about it getting annoying.

As an oil, it doesn't moisturise so much as lock moisture in, so using it after a shower when your skin is moist and hydrated is absolutely the best time. A little goes a long way, and be sure to wipe your hands afterwards! For me, the best reason to use this product though is the lovely glisten it gives to your skin. Not so much greasy as glowing, and it would look absolutely sizzling over a summer tan.

Vaseline Cocoa Butter Deep Conditioning Lotion (£2.99)
This lotion was passed to love Shiny Shiny writer, Lucy Hedges to review. She loved the scent on first sniff and this is what she has to say about the product:

"The texture was just the right consistency for me - not too thin, or too thick. It has a nice cocoa butter smell - which is expected, but it's not overbearing and doesn't last all day. It moisturises well, although if you put to much on your hand you'll be rubbing it in for a while (as with the majority of vaseline creams). My Skin felt hydrated all day and there was no need to reapply. I really liked it and will be buying it in the future - when I can't afford £12 body butters that is! For the price, this range wipes the floor with Palmers!"

Vaseline Cocoa Butter Smoothing Body Butter (£4.99)
The Bag Lady herself, Kelly McAuliffe got dibs on this body butter (her first!). A rich concoction containing shea and cocoa butters. I found the scent a little sweet and strong for me, but she adored it. Here's what she has to say:

"Having never used body butter before (scandalous i know!), but hearing all sorts of good things about it, i was quite keen to give this product a go. I absolutely loved the cocoa butter scent, reminding me of holidays in Hawaii. (Mmm...) The texture was beautiful and smoothed in easily, sinking in to my skin and leaving it lovely to touch and not at all greasy. Applying it in the morning and evening kept my really dry skin smooth all day. Now I've tried a body butter, I can't understand how I've lived so long without it. I'm a definite convert!"

The cocoa butter range is currently exclusive to Tesco, but will be rolling out nationwide early next year.
