We're used to hair straighteners being brought out in all shades of the rainbow, being portable, handbag friendly, and I'm sure I've heard a rumour of a solar powered one... Well next up to the bench in innovation is the SalonStraight Glide, a straightener produced by TRESemmé and Philips .

The straightener uses sonic pulse technology, which causes the tourmaline coated plates to vibrate. This is supposed to spread the hair evenly across the plates, which should mean you won't need to run the iron over the hair more than once.

The Glide heats up to 230 degrees, has a variable LED temperature switch and a salon length cable. It will be £50 from Boots and Argos in September.

The idea is that you get silky smooth hair with minimum usage of a heated appliance.. and possibly get off at the same time. (Just remember not to get too carried away- X rated burns are never fun...)
