I've just realized despite raving about the Smiley perfume to all my colleagues, friends and any random person I meet when I'm in a gregarious mood, I haven't told you guys about my personal experience with it yet!
When you hear about a perfume that can lift your mood it's natural to be suspicious. Surely chucking in chemical ingredients is just a marketing hype and it won't actually do anything? I firmly believed the hype about Smiley was all spin, and then I tried it. And loved it. LOVED it. It has pride of place on my desk and l randomly squirt it during the day whenever I need a pick me up.
It's difficult to describe the smell, as it's a blend of citrus and lemon with a hint of something else thrown in for good measure? Maybe that's the smell of serotonin? It has a selection of essential oils included, from orange bergamot and praline, with myrrh thrown into the mix to give it depth.
It's the chemicals that make it interesting though as it contains theobromine to reduce stress and phenethylamine to set off a feeling of joy. Every time I spray this I feel energized and lifted, and this is from someone who was completely prepared to dislike it on first whiff. The bottle is not the most attractive, as the plastic packaging looks quite clinical, but hey, happiness is a feeling, not a style right? It retails from £25-£45 at Boots and Selfriges.
