There are a couple of reasons people are scared of liposuction. First off, the surgery. I mean you're paying people to stick cannulas in your body... Nuff said. Next up, the bruising. Do you really want to look black and blue and swollen ( a common effect due to the solution they inject) after your slimming surgery? And finally, the downtime. A week in bed is a wonderful waste of your precious holiday time and lots of people are also scared of general anaesthetic.

Well there' s a new treatment on the UK market (previously only in the US), which offers you faster results with less pain. So how does this work then? Well they're using laser lipolysis, which is less invasive than full on lipo and should give you super quick recovery time.

The system works by using pulsing lasers through the cannula, which is quite a novel idea. We've had ultrasonic liposuction after all, which generally means less trauma to the skin than conventional tumescent lipo, but laser energy is a new player in this game.

The Cynosure machine works with Smartlipo MPX and pulses lasers to liquefy the fat before removal, which means considerably less bruising. Most patient are fully functional within 2 days and you only need a local anaesthetic rather than a general.

There's also no need for stitches as the machine uses punctures, which might sound a little vampirish but will heal better in the long run.

As with all liposuction procedures it' never 100% risk free and you can aim to see final results within 2-3 months as the body heals.
