Beauty Blogger Interview: PJ from a Touch of Blusher
Today we have the lovely PJ from A Touch of Blusher in our hot-seat. She's decided to preserve her internet anonymity which we love as it means 100%honest reviews, and she's here to share her wealth of expertise and insights on the beauty scene. Read on to find out all about her!
When did you first become interested in beauty?
I remember looking at Brooke Shields on a magazine cover when I was about eight. Not that she was not gorgeous, but all I was looking at was her flawless makeup!
What was the first makeup you ever bought?
I think it was a pressed powder from Maybelline. I had (and still have) quite oily skin.
When did you start beauty blogging?
A Touch of Blusher is my first blog, which started in November 2006.
How did you cope with becoming a famous blogger?
I don't consider myself to be famous at all. Replying to comments and e-mails from readers does take up a lot of my time, but I enjoy every minute of it.
Did you find it hard/easy to be taken seriously as a blogger?
I try to take my blog quite seriously, but I don't expect others to, in the same way as I do. It started out as a hobby, and I still want to keep it that way.
What celebrity do you think has a great beauty style?
I love Kate Winslet. She is so effortlessly and naturally elegant, sophisticated, and classy. It seems she is not even trying.
And which celebrity beauty style do you hate?
I don't really dislike her style, but I think it would be great to see a more relaxed version of Victoria Beckham.
What's your cleansing routine?
I start with RMK Cleansing Oil N (which I have been using for years) to take off all my makeup, and then I gently wash my face with Simple's Moisturising Foaming Facial Wash (which I use in the morning as well).
Three desert island beauty must have's?
Lip balm
Hand cream
Sunscreen with at least SPF 15 and UVA protection
If you had a makeup range what would you call it and what would be your wonder product?
I would love it to be named after myself. But if I have to come up with a unique name, it would probably be something like "Finishing Touch" (or just "Touch"). My wonder product would be a pressed powder that smoothes out lines and pores and keeps shine at bay all day long.
Top 3 favourite high end brands and low end brands?
High end: Chanel, Dior and Lunasol (from Japan)
Low end: Lavshuca, Majolica Majorca (both from Japan as well) and Maybelline
And most over rated product/range ever?
Most anti-aging moisturizers. Based on their ingredient lists, most of them don't deserve any hype.
What beauty trends do you predict for this year?
Eyeshadows in deep purples and red-toned browns, and subtle gold shimmer for eyes and lips.
If it was gratis, what cosmetic surgery would you have done?
I probably wouldn't have any. There are always possibilities that things can go wrong or don't turn out the way I want. At least with makeup, I can just take it off and start again.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
One of my wildest dreams is to be involved in creating a beauty magazine just for UK readers. (We really need one!) I doubt it will ever happen, but I think I will still be blogging!
Ahh, she's such a sweetheart!
