Runway Rundown 2009: Hot headgear and bold lips at Danielle Scutt

Danielle Scutt's collection was full of colour this year, harking back to the nineties with a eclectic and ethnic vibe. Headgear seemed to be a big trend, mirrored in the clothes, and makeup was kept bold and bright. I loved how the models all wore the same heavily rimmed eye, with thick kohl drawn all around. The eyelids were kept bare, and the liner smudged up into the socket. The use of the bright lip colour really attracted me as well as it's nice to see a designer not resorting to the standard red or nude tones.

The peachy coral lips set a really youthful tone for spring and coupled with the skin story- smooth and dewy, reflect some potentially new trends. I liked how the cheeks were bare as that kept the bold makeup in proportion, and the hair ribbons/rags set the stage for an ethnic story.
