Runway Rundown :Volumized hair and dark lips at Luella S/S09

This season it's all about height, skyscraper heels , micro mini's and towering barnets that Ms Winehouse would be jealous of. At Luella we saw sky high hair do's and huge quiffs overpowering the models. Combine that with netting and bold lips and we suddenly have a Bettie Page style fifties look on our hands. I love the glamour of the styles and am thrilled with Luella challenging our perceptions of her again, moving from floaty girlishness to glamorous girls. Plaits were also a big deal on her catwalk with the models sporting thick braids running down the napes of their necks. These styles are very easy to translate to every day wear, as simply tousle you hair, fling it back,add some hairspray and kirby grips, and voila!

When we take a glimpse backstage we see that the hair has been tied up high on the back of the head, with the front part sectioned and pined back. Plaits are kept thick, so you might want to used a thickening lotion, but tidiness is not paramount here, so flyaways are allowed. I can imagine this style being picked up by chic office workers looking for seasonal hair styles!
