The Red Lipstick Trial Day 6: Urban Decay in 5150

urb decay lips red.JPG

Day 6 of the Great Red Lipstick trial. I don't think I've been this happy in ages- just one more day to go! I'm quite happy with today's shade though, as it looks quite dark in the packaging but goes on really sheer and light, and feels quite moisturising. It's not a va va voom red, more of a slight purr and I think that's quite fitting when I'm feeling rundown.

9am. On the bus. The stares of passerbys have ceased to bother me- 5 days of being gawked at has left me with a strange sense of self confidence and I'm not fussed by people who make snarky comments about wearing red pre 7pm.

11.30. Morning meeting with a beauty PR. We chat over coffee and croissants and the red lips are a great excuse for us both to refuse the food. 'I'll have if you have, 'No I'll have if you have..'She's the first person I've met recently who is ALSO wearing red lips, and we must make a strange pair sitting there mid morning sipping our drinks. She tells me that she like to wear red regularly, as she finds it gets her more attention in meetings. I could see how that might work actually, it's like a beacon of colour on the lips- a traffic light moment. It's nice to bond with someone over red lips, but her confidence slightly bedazzles me, as I don't think I'll ever wear red DAILY when this trial is over.

2.30pm. At a games demo. There's nothing like trying to hula hoop on the Wii fit barefoot to make you feel slightly stupid, and the red lips draw far more attention than I'd like.

5.50. Drinking.. again. Hey, these aren't stay at home lips OK? It's a Friday and I want to party! Get chatting to a rather suave looking fellow who buys me two vodkas before I realize he' wearing skinny jeans (look, it was dark in there!). Strike one. Seriously red lips are totally attracting the emo/indie/Shoreditch crowd which is kinda cool. A little bit shallow as well- especially if they're meant to be anti establishment.

10pm. Reapplying lippie in the toilets. The lips are full once more but i seem to have eyeliner smudges under my eyes, and mascara gun in the corner...

2am. Chips! Mmmmmmm. Bye bye lipstick.

I love these lips, they really suit you! If I saw you on the street I would definitely think you were a red-lip regular. And did you get a hair cut? It looks FABULOUS. And who doesn't want a little indie boy chatting you up??

Hang in there, Zara! So far I think this colour and the one just before this suit you best.

It's interesting reading your comments on the attention you get with Red Lips. Maybe because I'm Asian and Geisha's are "in" right now, I never had or have a problem wearing red lipstick. It doesn't garner more more attention than any other colour - although perhaps I do get complimented more. FUSCHIA lips on the other hand - those stop traffic, and cause even the tube crowd to stop and stare (and really, dead bodies don't get them to stop and stare)
