The New You Bootcamp: Day 2 diary

The early morning runs are still hurting my legs, and I have to stop halfway through to cope with the stitch in mys side. 'C'mon girls, one last stretch!' shouts the sergeant. This is starting to become a common refrain... Then we're back to the huts to grab our waterproofs as we're off to the beach today. It's not all sandcastles and sunshine though, as the sky is overcast, the beach is pebbled and the only food involved comes after a gruelling two hour session.

We do circuits of abs, boxing, and running with a rope tied around our middle. The rain starts pelting down and I'm onto the weights section struggling to do reps with a nine pound bar. I am such a weakling!

Lunch is a soup which is wolfed down, and then I'm off for my one to one with the nutritionist. I'm a little bit worried about this as I know she's going to say all sort of things I won't like- and not just of the eating vegetables variety. I don't cook. Like, never. Pasta is an effort for me, I'm that lazy, and I'm quite happy eating curry out of a tin. So how will this talk go, as cooking will NEVER be integral to my life (I'd say I'm to busy, but I'm to lazy).

It went amazingly! She didn't roll here eyes at my Frosties for breakfast, and said my snacks of popcorn and yogurt were actually pretty good. Her suggestions fitted around my lifestyle, and worked with a supermarket budget. We came up with a food plan that catered to my needs, as I have poor energy in the mornings, and worked out some diet options.

Potential breakfasts for me were oat cakes and peanut butter, cereal bars, and bean burgers with nuts and seeds for extra protein. Dinner choices sounded yummy, with curry and Quorn both options, and apart from cutting down on milk chocolate (dark is OK) I left feeling very positive. Yes, she did give me some recipes, but I think we both know they're going straight to the boyfriend.

Stretches followed and some gentler circuits indoors, and then dinner time. Strangely this was the first day I didn't feel ravenous and delicately ate my halloumi and salad very slowly (but finishing every last morsel).

We're told that we're going coasteering tomorrow, sounds amazing!
