Product Review: Neutrogena Wave

neutrogena-wave-cleanser.jpg

Looking a cross between something I'd feature in Shiny's naughty toys section and a strange massager the Wave is actually a battery operated face cleanser. The idea behind it is that the vibrations help clean away grime more thoroughly than your own scrubbing, and it's a good way to remove grease build up if you think fingers are germ ridden zones.

It's quite strange to use though as the feeling of it on the skin takes some getting used to. Before each use apply a fresh pad (it comes with a pack of 8) moisten with water and press into the end of the Wave. The pad clips in easily, so don't worry about if falling out and on contact with the skin starts lathering slightly. The pressure is odd but not uncomfortable and after every use you discard the old pad, so it's always 100% fresh.

It's quite nice seeing the removed grime attached to the pad ( a similar feeling often associated with those nose strips) but I didn't find that the Wave was that good at removing makeup, so I tended to cleanse first and then use it as an extra boost. I think it will definitely encourage people to deep cleanse.

I'm not 100% sold on it but I can imagine that the next version might have an exfoliating pad, and I'd like to try that!! It would also be nice if you were given a container to store the refill pads in as if you leave them lying in the bathroom they're prone to get wet as well as exposed to changing elements.

It costs £12.71 from Boots and comes with pads, and a refill pack of 30 pads cost £4.88

I've actually been wondering about this product, so I'm glad you reviewed it. It seems a little gimmicky to me, but to each her own!

I'm Zara's housemate, and I can confirm that this does indeed look rather like a strangely-shaped "personal massager". I was pretty horrified when I saw that she'd left it in the bathroom...until I read this!
