Late nights coupled with to many Christmas canapes has left my skin looking blotchier than Britney's comeback. I need help- fast, but which of the many spot helpers do I turn to? After learning that Blemish Complex, a four step kit that promises to help relieve you of those dreaded pimples is created by Murad (that's Dr Murad for those not in the know) I decided I had to give it a go. I liked the fact that it contains no benozyl peroxide, which is a common skin irritant, so I've been trying their 30 day plan.

Murad has re-branded and re-badged his products for a UK market, and Blemish Complex is the result. I've now been religiously using this for a month and though I can't say my skin is as clear as the Florida skyline it has definitely improved.

There are four products in the kit. You start with the Clarifying Cleanser, a light wash that removes dirt and grease and helps keep the pores free from excess grime. It contains salicylic acid to penetrate the skin and menthol to soothe any irritation.

Follow this with step 2, which can either the the Blemish Target formula, a on the spot cream to use on nasty looking pustules, or the Exfoliating Blemish Treatment Gel. I like to use the gel in the daytime and the thicker treatment cream at night, but you can switch them depending on your preference as well as top up during the day. Finally there's a nice light non oily moisturiser to finish it off with. Each step is handily labelled 1,2, or 3 so you know which order to use it in, and unlike many acne products it's not harsh or drying on the skin.

Results aren't immediate, as you have to let the skin rejuvenate but then you're left with a clearer , fresher complexion. If only it was that easy to give up the canapes....

It costs from £25.50 from Blemish Complex for a months supply.
