ColourDial pizbuin.jpg

We've seen this type of innovation in foundations, but the colour match dial on the new Piz Buin bottle is something totally new in the world of fake tan. Basically you get a bottle that contains two chambers, both filled with self tanner with differing levels of DHA.

There's a click wheel along the top of the bottle, which you use to select the shade you'd like to turn. You can go from 1 (a hint of sun) to 5 (bronzed goddess) and the idea is that you start low and then move up the numbers when you're more confident. It's a nice idea for self tan virgins, but the more experienced tanner may find that they only use level 4 and 5, and this would empty the chambers unevenly.

They've also added in a summer scent, so that the product smells fragrant, instead of that nasty chemical smell we associate with fake tans. Will this herald the way for manufacturers to make all their fake tans fragrant or will people find themselves disenchanted with the fact that the perfume is already included?

It's available now for £17.99 for 240ml at Boots and will roll out to to other stores soon.

I think this is a great product for a fake tan beginner, but will leave the more experienced user unimpressed. Still, I can't wait to apply and discover what my 'true' fake tan colour is!
