If anything ever sounded to be good to be true this would have to be it. As someone who chips her polish whilst paying for her manicure I'm rather dubious about paying more than ten pounds for one, no matter how nicely they trim my cuticles. But I'm willing to try anything once, and lured in by the promise of chip free nails for three weeks I decided to try it. And then I discovered they lied.

It lasts for FOUR weeks! I think I'm in love...

The reason that your nails stay in such good shape is due to the application process- rather than just use varnish they coat the nails in gel which is then cured under a UV lamp. Colour is then applied, then gel, then colour, and your nails end up rock hard and super shiny.

The gel means they have an extra glossy finish and if you manage to find a lovely manicurist like mine (the Nails Inc lady in John Lewis by Oxford Street) the hour simply flies by.

You can choose whether to to go for one of the many, many Nail Inc colours on offer, or opt for the perfect French like I did. Be warned though, French does take a little longer, but that's always the case right?

I left with gleaming talons and a new sense of purpose, but would the results last? End of week one, they looked.. well, they looked lovely. Gleaming like the sun rising in the morning, or Blake Lively's hair extensions. Two weeks later- same result.

After three weeks the polish was intact but you could see the nail bed as the nails had grown under the polish. To detract from this I painted over them in a dark blue and this hid it well, and when the blue chipped, the French polish was pristine underneath!

To remove the gel, you can either go into the salon, or remove it a home with an acetone remover. It does take a while to get it all off, but time flies when you're watching the new series of LOST.

So what's the verdict? I'm totally sold, my nails have never looked nicer, and when the gel came off they'd also actually grown to a reasonable length and were stronger as well! I think I may have to invest in this treatment regularly now...

It costs £50 at Nails Inc. Check here for stores.

Or you could buy this for someone, special as they sell gift vouchers for the treatmet as well!
