Cosmetic surgery is big business nowadays, but that doesn't necessarily means people are better informed. You only have to scroll to the back of a magazine to see a variety of suspiciously cut price surgery deals on offer, with everything, from BOGOF offers to cut price procedures at clinics abroad. This doesn't necessarily mean that the merchants are selling you poor quality procedures, but it does mean that you're been targeted as a consumer, so the literature they give you is going to be biased.
Well some people think enough is enough, and whilst not telling you that you NEED surgery, have decided that it's important for you be INFORMED about what's out there. Say hello to My Face My Body, a website that aims to educate and inspire you.
The site was created by industry experts and features easy to read advice about all forms of treatment, from noninvasive procedures, to dentistry to full on liposuction. Every section of the site is split up into easily digestible bite sized chunks in each area.
The site is easy to navigate with the different section being clearly labelled, and I really like the way that each category has a number of sub divisions. For instance, when I got to the My Education part of the site, I can choose whether I'd like to learn more about all the different types of procedures. When I click on cosmetic surgery I'm then offered a choice of face or body and then there are a variety of options for each section.
I like how once I've entered the liposuction category I'm given a large dose of information about what liposuction actually is, and then I can easily scroll through the extra info. Not only do they include sections on whether you're a good candidate they also tell you all about the necessary preparation before surgery and what sort of post-op care you can expect to receive. I like how nothing is sugar coated and you're aware it will hurt afterwards, and that you won't necessarily get your desired results.
I'm also impressed that they go into detail about the different liposuction options, as many people aren't aware that the below all coexist.
* Traditional liposuction
* Tumescent Liposuction
* Super-Wet Liposuction
* Ultrasound-Assisted Liposuction (UAL)
* Power Assisted Liposuction (PAL)
* LipoSelection
Each type is explained in great detail, which allows you to go into your consultation feeling informed.
They also include a handy cost guide, and risk section for you to peruse.
There are some before and after pictures of the treatments, but not many, though I'm told they plan to hugely expand that section later this year.
The site includes a Web TV and forum section, both which are still being added to. Eventually the aim is to have a large forum which will help users find answers to any queries, as well as helpful videos that details a variety of procedures and show you what the treatments will be like.
The site also contains a news and events section with regular updates on the latest developments in the surgical world as well as conferences and meetings, and they have a handy find a specialist section, which lists accredited doctors.
The site is by no mean finished, but I'm impressed with what they've managed to achieve so far- an easy to read attractive design that gives consumers a wealth of info on the variety of options available to them.
