Dr Nirdosh has been involved in skin care for a long time, with her main focus being anti ageing. She's created a line of products to combat those telltale signs, as well as setting up shop with her very own Anti Ageing Clinic in the heart of London. This lady knows all there is to know about how the skin works and how to make the most of what you've got,and we managed to grab her for a quick chat about how she started in the business and her advice on how to keep your skin looking youthful.
When did you first become interested in beauty?
My mum enforced a no skin slacking policy from the day I was born! I'm not kidding, even while she was pregnant with me, she was eating a diet of homemade pomegranate juice and fresh cottage cheese to help give me good skin. By the time I was 15, I was so programmed to this, that I would eat 8 tomatoes, half a cucumber and smoothies on the bus home from school everyday, thinking this was normal.
What was the first makeup you ever bought?
My first make-up came in the form of a little girls beauty station, like a mini beauty parlour with its own theatrical style mirror, desk and matching chair. It had a range of mini lipsticks, eyeshadows and blushers, but I do remember curiosity getting the better of me and raiding my mum's cosmetic bag to steal her channel lippies. Grudgingly I was 18 before I bought my own stuff and it was a mix from Prescriptives and Clinique.
How much did your mother influence you in terms of skincare and beauty?
Hugely, actually she has been instrumental in dictating almost all my direction. Having been transfixed with her obsession with beauty, it was inevitable that once I was at medical school I knew I had to find the link between medicine and beauty and create my path as an anti-ageing doctor. The spell of beauty instilled within me from youth, my passion and dedication to medical research enables me to help others achieve the dream of gaining younger, gorgeous skin.
Why did you decide to create a range?
While I was treating clients at my anti-ageing clinic, I knew that in order to effectively de-age skin, one product could not suit all, as skin of different ages, different tones and types, has totally different needs. For instance, skin that is in its 20's is plumper and radiant and contains a bountiful supply of collagen, however intrinsically, at microscopically, it is suffering ageing and requires ingredients to help block premature age damage. On the other hand, skin in its 40's has experienced drastic dermal changes, lost is structural collagen and elastin density and this combined with the effect of depletion of anti-ageing hormones, causes it to appear flaccid, wrinkled and thinner. I devised my own anti-ageing programme that combines targeted topical skincare treatments with my specialist youth pills to specifically repair and inject youth in the skin's inner layers, while also renewing the outer epidermal layers.
What was the concept behind the brand?
My research concluded that anti-ageing hormones are the body's youth messengers, so I knew it was vital to increase levels of growth hormone inside the body and re-activate cell production, which slows down with Age.
I created special youth pills and compatable skin creams to reverse age damage in the innermost dermis skin cell layers, where most ageing and wrinkle formation occurs, to combat instinsic and extrinsic ageing simultaneously, and truely provide a result of skin that's younger from the inside, as well as from the outside. Also, I wanted to provide a 24/7 head-to-toe anti-ageing regime and Dr Nirdosh ranges include anti-wrinkle skincare, 1st signs of ageing treatments, anti-ageing youth pills, men's skin treatments, skincare for oily, combination and dry skin. As well as face treatments, I felt it necessary to ensure the rest of the body also received its anti-ageing fix and formulated products for cellulite, hair, hand, bath, body care, acne and more!

How important is it to you that your ingredients are natural/ pareben free etc?
I've maintained a no harmful chemicals policy throughout, with minimal preservatives and maximum goodness. I feel its important to use ingredients like collagen, lipids and antioxidants that are naturally present in our skin and boost their effects, so our skin doesn't encounter any strange molecules.
Who is your dream celeb spokesmodel?
Angelina Jolie, as she knows how to get the best from her skin naturally and always looks so angelic and does a lot of good work for charity.
Would you ever have cosmetic surgery and if so what?
I don't feel such urges, and I think women need to be educated on safer ways to younger looks, as surgery only lifts and moves a wrinkle in a different direction by either stretching or lifting it, but it doesn't actually do anything to slow down or stop the ageing process.
Do you think ageing can really be stopped?
Not completely stopped, but it can be slowed down and reversed, so when you're 50 you can still have the skin of a 25 year old, provided you follow the right steps. Smoking, drinking, excess exposure to sunlight and high glycemic foods are all banned on my anti-ageing programmes and replaced with vitamin antioxidant and lean protein rich diets, resistance exercises plans, plus incorporation of my youth pills like Age Block and appropriate skincare.
Why are people so scared of ageing?
because socially we are judged on our appearances. People give you a better response if they know you have conviction in the way you present yourself, and that comes from knowing you are taking care of your face and body. Its not an issue of vanity, but one of self respect and treating your body and skin with dignity. Also, celebrities represent a social age that is is often younger than their real age, and this burdons alot of people to keep up with the a-list.
