Ah, Spring. The flowers are budding, the lovers are blushing... or have probably at least faked it with some hardy blusher or cheek stain. Benefit's cult favourite Benetint is probably the first long-wearing stain to spring (ahem) to mind - and for gentler complexions, its little sister Posietint (£22.50) offers a subtler pink flush. But for a truly bargainous option, try MEMEME's new Poppy Tint, the brighter, pinker sibling of their original Pussycat Cheek and Lip Tint, for just £4.88 in Superdrug!
First thing's first though - let's get this straight. At first glance at the very similar packaging and names, one might think MEMEME is identical to Benefit - but really the containers hold very different products.
While Benefit's stains are runny liquid and pretty intense (watch for reddened fingers or splotches if you don't blend quickly enough!), MEMEME has a gel-like consistency and gives a much, much more sheer effect. If you're after a subtle effect, or are put off by the fear of messiness and accidental blotchiness/streaking, Poppy Tint is an excellent first step into the world of cheek and lip stains as the colour takes quite a bit of building up - so it's good to use to build up confidence too!
To use, simply draw an 'X' on your cheek with the brush applicator, and tap/blend lightly with your fingers, or coat your lips before finishing with a lipgloss. At this price, it's great to experiment, and the ideal accompaniment to the tinted moisturisers you'll be phasing in for the warmer weather, in place of winter's heavier foundations...
