The 5 Day Urban Detox Diet : Day 2
Sometimes I commit to things without fully considering the ramifications, and that's just what had happened today. It's a glorious sun filled afternoon and I'm standing in the grounds of Silverstone, grumpily clutching my juice bottle whilst my colleagues squaff red bull and roast leg of lamb.
As we race around the track, the adrenalin rush I feel only slightly counteracts my feelings of exhaustion and my carrot /celery/something foul juice tastes rather dispiriting.
When you sign up for a detox you rather imagine lily filled rooms combined with soft music and massages, not action packed days where you have to constantly field questions about why you're not eating. I'm not embarrassed about doing a detox, I'd just rather my diet wasn't the topic of the day.
I give up completely on attempting to have my rather depressing 'cleansing drink' as there's no way I can start mixing powder and water in front of everyone- and the residue left on the face isn't great either but vow to catch up on them later. I have my half filled linseed mix to look forward to as well, which makes me feel even grumpier.
The coach home is filled with champagne and Krispy Kremes- but none for me, as I chug yet more water and think of thinner thighs and a fresh complexion.
I've decided tonight will be spent hermit like on my room, as I can't cope with any more temptation, My throat feels slightly fuzzy and there's a rather nasty taste in my mouth- a common side effect I'm told as I scan through the literature for a possible get out of jail card.
I've been warned the third day is the hardest so await tomorrow with trepidation.
