Five days have passed since I embarked on my juice fast and it's gone surprisingly well. Yes, there have been some up and downs, and my energy has gone from zero to 100, and then stabilized somewhere in the seventy percentile range, but apart from a slip up with a Solero I've faithfully stick to the plan.
I've gritted my teeth and drank black mixtures of bentonite clay, endured the unpleasantness of a colonic and said no to alcohol, chocolate and fizz even when placed in dire temptation. Today is the day of reckoning, and I'm going to assess how I feel.
First off, I venture upstairs to the scales. I know the detox isn't about weight loss, and that it can be seen as a side effect, but nonetheless I have to know. I've lost 5.4 POUNDS!!! In 5 days!! I'm literally over the moon. True it's probably just water weight, but still, it's serious incentive to make more healthy choices from now on. My skin looks clearer than it has done in a while and I'm also feeling really positive,
Whilst it's been a struggle not eating, the fact that I managed five days says a lot to me about how strong my willpower is and gives me hope that in future when I put my mind to difficult tasks I'll be able to accomplish them.
It's also helped re-educate me about what my body actually needs to function, as opposed to what it craves, and I feel like I'd like to have this machine running on better fuel from now on. I've also realized that I don't need to drink alcohol every day and that I can say no without causing a fuss or having a big debate about my diet choices, so think I will be putting that into action from now on,.
