Anti-ageing creams have always scared me almost as much as the ageing process itself. Painfully aware of the bizarre and exotic ingredients used in some of the creams (placenta, anyone?) and in denial about the years weighing me down I was quite happy sticking with my Nivea, thank you very much.
That was until I hit 30, and had the chance to test one cream that had very good reviews from all quarters: Elemis' Pro-Collagen Marine Cream. Once I'd reassured myself the 'marine' refered to an algae (not a fish) I decided to ditch my little girls' creams and switch to this apparent elixir of youth.

What's great about it
• The cream glides on like nothing else I've ever tried. It's so readily absorbed you barely need to rub it in - great for busy types!
• Elemis claims that their cream can reduce the appearance of wrinkle depth by up to 78%. I've not quite developed distinguished enough wrinkles to fully test this theory, but my skin has certainly felt firmer, plumper and much less dry than it did before I used this cream on a regular basis.
• Despite its noticable firming effect, this cream doesn't cause the same 'freezing' sensation that some other anti-ageing creams do. I've since tried others and found that even the pricier ones tend to have this effect, which can add to the unpleasant feeling of 'dryness' in ageing skin.
• It's great for sensitive skin and didn't provoke any reaction in mine (a rarity!)
• The entire Elemis range is not tested on animals
What's not so great about it
• The price: a 50ml tub will cost you £75
