MAC Cosmetics always carries a bit of a rock and roll connotation for me and their new Style Black collection goes full-tilt goth. While it could be a little intimidating for the more natural-makeup-minded among you, there's really something for everyone in this glamorously dark collection.
"Lips, nails, eyes - there's no more dramatic way to declare your desire, your magnetism. they will surrender to a Blackfire Glimmerglass, Rapidblack Penultimate Eye Liner, a slash of Greasepaint Stick, and the hot scratch of Baby Goth Girl Nail Lacquer. Style Black is a way of life. A shadowy and mysterious figure of fantasy, even for just one dark and dangerous night."
Whoa. Now that's some seriously sexy product description, and you can't help but channel that sort of siren when you apply these darkly glamorous colors. Whether it's the Intense Black Greasepaint stick every girl should have in her arsenal or the Midnight Media Mattene Lipstick and Bling Black Glimmerglass only for the boldest of the bold, this is the MAC collection to get a piece of.

The standout for general all-purpose use is the Intense Black Greasepaint Stick, as I mentioned. This eyeliner does not budge or smudge, and everyone needs a black eyeliner. Everyone. Be careful though because the stick is very soft and easy to mash if you don't twist it all the way down before putting the cap back on or laying it on the counter. Create an all out smokey eye with one of the fabulous Mineralize Eye Shadows in this collection (super dramatic applied wet, more sheer applied dry) or just draw on your upper lash line for sexy definition.
If you want the blackest of black lips, dripping with vampiric goth-girl appeal, layer Midnight Media Mattene Lipstick with Bling Black Glimmerglass. Be aware that this is Halloween-level black lipstick, straight up runway beauty, not toned down "runway to reality" trend interpretation. Let the lipstick dry before applying gloss, or the gloss brush kind of just pushes the color around.
Back to less scary, more broad-appeal products, the nail lacquers in this collection are fab. Nocturnelle may knock Chanel Black Satin off its top spot on my black polish list, with its black as night color. For something a little different, Seriously Hip incorporates gold particle pearl and Baby Goth Girl has pinkish purple pearl flecks.
