Last month I told you all about the Clarisonic device coming to the UK and I've been faithfully using it for the last three weeks. I was initially unsure how effective the device would be- the research trials sounded fantastic but I just couldn't get my head around paying £146 for what's essentially a battery operated cleaning device.
However I now rescind all doubts, as I find myself irrevocably taken with it. It's simply so easy to use, and provides such astonishing effects. Read on for my full review.
As someone who's prone to breakouts and uneven skin I was worried the brush would either be to harsh or to gentle (yes, I realize that's a contradiction). It proved itself however, gliding over open blemishes without a flicker, and leaving them refreshed and not dried out.
The device is 100% waterproof which i found really useful as I didn't have to worry about leaving it in the shower, and so far I've only had to charge it once. I use it both morning and night, and the programmed cycle is about 2 minutes. You simply glide it over your face- letting the oscillating brushes do their work. there's no need to apply pressure as the brush thoroughly works every area. In fact, if you do apply to much the motor will stop temporarily, which is a nice safety feature. There are a couple of heads you can use with it and I've been trying the regular head and the body brush.
The kit comes with a selection of products, which I briefly tried. I quite liked the gel cleanser as that lathered up nicely, but I preferred using my own products rather than theirs. I either apply products to a wet face, and then use the brush to massage it in, or apply it to the brush and work that way. After one use I was surprised as how much cleaner my face felt- it looked shinier and healthier, and that tricky area around my nose had zero flakes. After a week I was receiving compliments on my skin and after two there have been days when I've gone out makeup free.
I never quite realised how much residue I must have been leaving every day, as this is cleansing like I've never experienced. It's not perfect- some really heavy foundations will need a pre-wash or harsher cleanser to fully remove and that can be a bot annoying.
I was also not that keen on the body brush, which really surprise me. To use it you change the brush head, and use with an exfoliating scrub or cream to cleanse the body, but I found this didn't work that well. It may be easy enough to change the brush head if you're doing it every 3 months, but to do so on a daily basis is simply irritating. Though it snaps out in one smooth motion, you need to lever up the side to pull it out and I just didn't have the patience. Whilst it probably does work wonders if you use it regularly, I'd really want a SECOND one just for the body, rather than combining it.
Overall I found the device worth every penny. It leaves my skin looking brighter and cleaner, and I think it has prevented breakouts from occurring. I look more glowing and vital, and can now see what all the fuss is about!r
