Product Review: Cinique Even Better Skin Tone Correcting Moisturizer with SPF 20

clinique-even-better-moisturizer.jpgI'd loved using Clinique's Even Better foundation, which one of a new line of products aimed at tackling the twin problems of uneven skin tone and hyperpigmentation. So I was interested to hear what Kiss & Makeup's army of product testers would make of the latest product from the Even Better range: a skin tone correcting moisturiser with SPF 20.

Read on for our tester's verdict

Our tester Emma, who told us she has some irregular and 'blotchy' areas around her t-zone and temples, has been using this product for the past few weeks, hoping to see a more even complexion shine through.

Commenting on the moisturizer's texture, Emma was impressed, telling us "it's creamy without being claggy, feels refreshing when you apply it and is absorbed quickly". However, she was less happy about the scent, which she said was rather heavy on the citronella, sunscreen side and 'a bit offputting'.

Personally, I rather like products that contain that distinctive SPF scent, as I think they smell like holidays - so your opinion on the fragrance will most likely affect how well you get on with this product. Either way, it's good to wear sunscreen in any facial cream - apart from the obvious health benefits, it's the ultimate anti-aging ingredient - even now we're into autumn.

So did it do the trick? Emma told us "I have noticed that my complexion has been somewhat evened out and brightened in key areas like my temples and T-zone where skin tone can be a little bit irregular." Results aside, she was less happy with the texture, saying it left her face feeling powdery and a little bit tight, "like I had applied toner". This suggests that the cream could suit some skin types better than others, perhaps working better on oilier and less sensitive skins. Emma will now be saving this one for the summer and using it on sunny days when she wants a good SPF in my moisturiser, but tells us it won't be replacing her regular cream!
