Bulgari is name better associated with high quality gems than skincare, so it's no surprise that their foray into this world includes 'Gem Essence'. This ingredient has been created by extracting parts from four precious stones, which are sapphire, malachite, tourmaline and citrine. Whether or not this addition will make the products any more effective than those without it can be debated, though they say using this can help shield the skin, improve circulation and restore brightness.

On the less waffly side, the whole line is non-comedogenic, and allergy tested. There are two lines within Bulgari Gem Essence Skincare, one for anti ageing ( Precieuse ) and one for enhance revitalization (Lumiere line).

I tried out the Radiance Cleansing Milk and Radiance Toner.

They're packaged in really lovely bottles, tall and slender, and the shade of pink that's visible in the sky when you venture out at 6am. I really like the thick silver lid as well, as it's non-spill and means when you knock it over your other toiletries should stay clean. The cleanser is really gentle to apply and has a nice consistency to it. It has rose extracts, and it does smell faintly perfumed, which is a nice way to wake up. It massages into the skin really easily, and despite being gentle was efficient at removing every scrap of makeup (except my waterproof mascara).

The toner features chamomile extract and is quite refreshing to use. I didn't always feel I needed it after the cleanser, but sometimes it was nice to use it on the skin to remove the last traces of cleanser as well as prepare the skin for foundation.

I was very impressed with these two products, especially the cleanser and would definitely recommend them to people.

Buy the Bulgari range at Neiman Marcus, with prices starting at around $50/ £35.

PS: I'm very confused as whether I should spell Bulgari like so, or like this -Bvlgari. Their own website has BULGARI in the URL, but Bvlgari on the info. Argh!
