What the USA gets, the UK follows closely behind, but not so in the case of the Kindle or the Clarisonic, Both have been out in the USA for yonks, and only one of those has finally made it to our shore (but the Kindle is rumoured out for Xmas here...)
The Clarisonic is a power assisted brush cleanser that utilizes Sonicare technology to deep cleanse the skin. Yes that's right- the same power that runs those electric toothbrushes is used in the creation of this skin cleaning device. So what is it exactly, and how does it work?
The brush sits in a inductive charging cradle, allowing you to use it without wires or batteries, and it's 100% waterproof, so it's fine to use in the shower. The brush head moves at over 300 oscillations per second, so fast that you can't see it unless you shine a UV torch in the bristles!
You apply a regular cleanser to your skin (though they do provide you with mini versions of their own brands) and you then turn on the brush. Move it gently across your face for one to two minutes, floating it across the skin, and not applying any pressure. Should you press it hard the safety feature will kick in and the brush head will stop moving, so don't worry about causing any damage, The idea behind the brush is that we generally don't fully remove our daily products completely, which causes a barrier to the absorption of high quality creams like night moisturizers.
Once you've finished your face session simply rinse the brush head and leave in the bathroom for next time, One charge will give you around 30 uses, which is great if you're going on holiday and don't want to carry a charger. I like the idea of this, as my use of mineral makeup often means the finely milled powder gets caught in my pores, and relish the idea of a daily deep cleanse. they say that continual use will improve skin texture and quality, and as it allows your products to be absorbed you can see this could be possible.
There are two models, a basic 'Classic' version and the Plus, the difference evening that the Plus has a body brush head for exfoliating dead cells of you thighs and other areas. There are also different brush heads you can buy such as sensitive or delicate as well as normal.
I'm going to be trialling this over the next few weeks- watch this space for a review.
The price is £146.81 for the Classic Model and £171.86 for the Plus Model. Replacements brushes (needed every 3 months are around £20.)
