Treatment Review: Beautytek at the Meditech Clinic Chelsea

Winter has entered our domain and with its blustering winds comes women bundling up in scarves and coats. It's all to easy to let body maintenance fall by the wayside, but with Xmas party season just round the corner, it's good to stay on top of things. Liposuction seems a little but extreme, and though you manage to get to the gym once or twice a week, you're not really seeing the changes you'd like.

The Beautytek treatment is one that utilizes micro current energy, and passes low level electrical impulses through the body. The idea is that this process 'stimulates the bodies repair mechanism', allowing you to become smoother with more defined curves. Sounds interesting, right? I headed down to the Meditech Clinic Chelsea to find out.

I was greeted my the charming Faye Fasan, the clinics lovely owner and therapist who talked me through the treatment. You could opt for either slimming Beautytek (where a body wrap was also used) or firming Beautytek. The main difference was the programme she'd set into the machine and the different conductive gel she'd use.

We decided to do my stomach area, so after a few embarrassing 'before' snaps I hopped onto the bed to be covered in gel. Beautytek isn't really designed to be a single treatment session, so I knew the results I'd get would be minimal, but I wanted to see what it was like, I ad to admit to a fair bit of scepticism as the literature sound wholly unconvincing.

It can be used on any area, from stomach to back, to face and is said to help with acne scarring, cellulite and bumpy skin. Faye also showed me some before an dafter photos, and this is where I was most impressed. There were a series of images of women who'd had the treatment on their breasts to give them a non-surgical lift, and the results were really outstanding, with nipples pointing north rather than south after ten treatments,

Faye selected the programme and started passing an electric probe over my skin. She moved it rhythmically, following the guide on the computer. It wasn't uncomfortable was the pressure was quite firm, so I imagine you';d want to do this on an empty stomach. After the machine beeped she' move onto another area and the process would begin again. I was told to hold a probe in my hand so the current would flow through me.

An hour passed extremely quickly and then some more images were taken. I could see a small reduction in the shape of my stomach and my sides, and could easily see how a few more sessions might produce some long lasting results.

It was quite impressive- I'd gone in a sceptic and come out a fan. Who'd have thought?
